The Son of God

In the Hail Mary of the Catholic Church it says – Mother of God. Christ was not God. He was the son of God or son of men. God is the father and he as the son. He also said, No man has seen the Father. He himself never claimed to be God. Some Protestants also are starting to call Christ God. He never claimed to be God.

This is the annunciation as given in the Bible.

Luke 1: 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father, David.
Luke 1: 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, the Holy Ghost shall Come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that the holy thing which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God.

On the baptism of Jesus there are accounts in the 4 Gospels.

Matthew 3: 16, 17 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father, David.
Luke 1: 35 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a cove, and lighting upon him:
And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Mark 1: 1   The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God;
Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Luke 3: 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
John 1: 32, 33, 34

And John bore record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

And I saw and bare record, that this is the Son of God.

Other examples in Matthew and Mark.

Matthew 14: 33 (when Christ walked on the water)
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Mark 15: 38, 39 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain, from the top of the bottom. And when the centurian which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man the Son of God.

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and with him all things that himself doeth; and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For us the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them even so the Son quickens when he will. For the Father Judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honorith not the Son, honoreth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself. And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. I can of mine own self do nothing, as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Who is a liar but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but he that acknowledgeth the Son, hath the Father also.) Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1 John 4:14

And we have seen and do testify, that the Father sent the Son to be the savior of the world.

In the Apostles’ Creed it says – I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord.

Also the trinity is Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

I think a lot of confusion has arisen because both God and Christ are called Lord. In the Old Testament all the references to Lord mean God, with Lord or Lord thy God. When Christ was called Lord, too, in the New Testament, confusion arose. In reading the Old Testament, people in their minds often think of Christ and not God. Lord means God in all of the Old Testament and some of the new. This confusion has led some people to call Christ God. Lord meaning God and Lord meaning Christ are mixed up.

Christ hiimself said:

John 5:19, 20, 30 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 1:198 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 1:18 Jesus said – no man has seen God at anytime. Also at his trial he claimed to be the Son of God.
Other references to Son. Matt 11:27, 16:16
Mark 13:30, 14:61, 62
Luke 19:22
John 3:35, 36 5:19-23 6:40 6:35, 36 14:13

Also on the cross, Jesus said, “Father, Father, Why hast thou forsaken me?”

The Catholics say Mary is the Mother of God, in their rosary. The Bible never says that. It said she would bear the Son of God and she should call his name Jesus, because he would save his people from their sins. Also they are now saying she is mother of the world – ignoring all other people and religions. I believe God is in all other major religions. “God is Spirit, and they that worship must worship in spirit and in truth.” It is just like Americans to think they are the biggest and the best. Many Protestants are also saying that Jesus is God. They forget it says – “No man has seen God at any time, and thousands saw Jesus.” We must not know what Spirit is. It is like Love, (God is Love). You can’t see it or touch it, but you can feel it’s there. It is abstract.

Mary herself says none of these things. In a book she wrote of herself, she says, “I am not Catholic, I am Jewish.” Of course, she would have to be. Christ was a king of the Jews, and he was descended from the house of David. (Jewish) This will give people something new to think about. They can rearrange their prejudices.

This is what the Bible says about the repetition of the Rosary:

In the Sermon on the MT., Jesus says:

Matt. 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matt. 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask.
Matt. 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. (Then follows the Lord’s prayer)

This is what Jesus and the Bible say about the repetitions of the Rosary – just one Lord’s Prayer.
